Celebrity Trainers

I was thinking about positive celebrity role models and it occurred to me that you never hear about black celebrities and their trainers. You always hear about white celebrities and their trainers. Tracey Anderson (http://tracyandersonmethod.com/), the personal trainer of both Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, has been getting a lot of publicity lately.

Regardless of what you might think of her method, she is still a high profile trainer to white celebrities. Can you think of any high profile trainers for black celebrities? I am going to see if I can find some....

Our community needs this sort of role model.

  1. She's definitely the flavor of the month, but a recent interview w/her in Bazaar she kept saying "teeny tiny" and emphasizing a woman's size over fitness and health. Although I'm OK with not being "teeny tiny" as long as I'm fit, those words were irksome and could be damaging to young girls' self esteem, y'know?

    Another great website Vionna!

  2. Thanks, Jessica! It seems like she is everywhere these days. An emphasis on being "teeny tiny" is not a good message to send. The emphasis should be on being as fit and healthy and happy as you can be. Most people are not going to be "teeny tiny". Plus, I think there is some question as to whether she is actually certified to be a personal trainer...
